Chocolaty Nutty Brownies

Scrumptious chocolaty brownies with nuts. Makes 16 Brownies.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 cups baking chocolate or chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts*
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (for top)

Instructions:

  1. Begin by heating oven to 325 F (165 C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, mix together: sugar, butter and water. Heat over medium until boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate until thoroughly melted. Let cool for 5 minutes. Then, stir in the eggs and vanilla.
  3. In a bowl, combine: flour, 1/2 cup chopped nuts, baking soda and salt; combine with the chocolate mixture. Pour in to baking pan and sprinkle 1/4 cup chopped nuts on top.
  4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until done. Let them cool in the baking pan.

*TIP: Hazelnuts or Pecans work best!
